Puma Knife: Puma Circa 1950-60's Original 6301 Sportsmesser Medium Scout Knife with Saw Back Blade and Sambar Handle
Original No.6301 Scout. Circa 1950-60's 'very lightly sharpened' Puma German medium Saw Back Scout Knife with genuine staghorn handle. Model is in good condition for age and unused but lightly sharpened condition with some Tarnish marks as can be seen in the detailed images.
In original Leather Sheath
Overall length is approx 23.5 cm (9 1/4"), with original Stainless steel. 13 cm (5 1/4" blade.
Brass finger guard. Handmade in Solingen with PUMA Germany stamped on blade along with Puma Sportsmesser and the No. 6301

Circa : 1950-60's
In excellent original condition for age, unused but has been lightly sharpened and shows some tarnish marks as can be seen in the detailed images.
No cracks or chips in the blade and the saw back is in great unused condition.
The Stag Handle is an unusual two piece type with even sides and a nice rich colour .
Both are finely figured and give real character to the knife.
No rust on the blade but it does show some tarnish marks. The Pommel is in good condition with just a few age marks. I would give the knife a rating of around 95% original condition.
Saw back is very good and unused.
Because of the age of the knife the sheath is in good condition but does have the top left rivet coming away from the leather sheath part but the sewing is pretty much intact as are the rest of the rvets. The retaining strap looks to be a replacement as it is a slightly different colour Brown to the rest of the Sheath.
It has the metal protective band at the bottom of the sheath which is in great condition and the writing on the metal is: D.R.G.M. No.1189240
This is an excellent example of the popular older Sportsmesser Saw Back Scout and hard to find a Scout Knife and at around 65+ years old and with the character handle would be an excellent addition to any Puma collection
