Puma Knife: Puma Rarer 1971 Bantam Folding Knife with Red Bone Handle #27172
Original Puma Bantam 673 with Red Jigged Bone Handle Model 673 Serial Number 27172
Please read full description and see detailed images which form part of the description.
Made in the 2nd Qtr 1971 and is now 53 Years old and in almost mint unused condition with just a few age marks which you would expect from a 50+ year old knife.
Almost mint 99% condition with just a few age marks and a really nice dark Reddish Jigged Bone handle with Gold Puma Medalion inbedded in handle.
It is a little stiff when opening and closing as it has not been used. A little oil on the hinges will fix that.
It has no wobble and the blades are nice and straight and fit nicely in to the handle.
The smaller blade snaps back nicely and the longer blade snaps back after around 70% closing but again, I think this is because it has not been used and of course is 50+ years old so it would probably snap back quicker with the more opening and closing it gets.
The Red Bone Scales are nice and figured with no cracks in the scales and the finish of the whole knife is excellent.
Puma Bantam measures 3 1/4" when closed. It has two blades: a 2-3/4" spearpoint and a 2" spey blade. Both blades are forged from Pumaster Steel. Its attractive handle is made from Red Jigged bone. Made in Solingen, Germany.
Stamped on main blade is: 673 PUMA-BANTAM GENUINE-PUMASTER-STEEL
Made in Solingen, Germany. The date stamp is very difficult to see as it is within the inside of the brass liner but it reads 27172 which when checked on the Puma date stamp chart is 2nd QTR 1972
