1980's-90's era Australian Hand Made MAFFI SYDNEY Knife

There seems to be very little information available on 'Paul Maffi' apart from to say that he was actively making beautiful handmade knives in Sydney Australia during the 1980'-90's with a very good reputation of producing high end top quality knives and we believe he then went on to make high end custom swords and even fantasy knives for Hollywood Movies. There is just one small reference to this effect in a Knife makers journal. (*we would happily stand corrected if this is not the case and would appreciate any information on Paul Maffi should anyone like to let us know and we would be happy to include it here)

We have a small collection of 6x MAFFI Knives which are all stunning. None came with sheathes so where possible, we have paired them with a leather knife sheath suitable for the knife and fitting the blade shape.

This is a Larger Sized Hand Made Drop Point knife with Oak Laminate Hardwood Handle, and Stainless Bolsters.

We are not 100% sure what the Wood handle material is made from but it is a highly polished hardwood Laminate which could be Oak

The knife has never been used and holds its original edge and it is unsharpened with an original very sharp edge.

Stamped on the blade is : HANDMADE MAFFI SYDNEY

Please note that the blade is a mirror finish and unused and unsharpened, and any marks on blade in the detailed images are purely from the shine and the light when taking the photos. It is around the 50 year old mark and we have left it in original condition.

Overall length is: 23cm

Polished Carbon Blade is: 10.5cm long and 3.1cm at its widest part and it has a really nice weight to the knife and would make the perfect Australian handmade hunting knife if you were not going to keep it in a collection

Dark Brown Polished Laminate Wooden Handle is: 12cm and held in place with resin and Three steel pins. It also has a steel lined lanyard hole

We have paired this knife with a custom USA made mid brown coloured Leather Push-In Sheath with belt loop

If you look at the images of the spine, you can see how much work has gone in to this knife as the knife blank has been painstakingly ground from 5mm at the middle to 2mm at the end of the blade and from one piece of steel

A beautiful Handmade in Sydney Australia knife and a real quality piece of Australian craftsmenship.
