The ESEE-5 features the famous ESEE-5 blade design married to a traditional handle.

The ESEE-5 was designed by military SERE instructors as a hard-use downed pilot’s survival knife. Except for knife only models, the ESEE-5 comes standard with a Kydex sheath. 

The ESEE 5 Plain Edge Knife fixed blade was designed by an Air Force SERE Instructor with the goal of being one of the best knives for aircraft survival, escape and evasion. The ESEE 5 is made of "bomb-proof", 6.35mm (1/4") thick 1095 tool steel with a full tang construction, durable powder coat finish and Micarta handle scales. For emergency situations the ESEE 5-PE is every ounce of tool you need for survival.

New Version comes with the ESEE Logo on the blade as opposed to the "skull and knife-bones" RAT Logo & no logo on the handles.

The Blade: The ESEE 5 is made from solid 1095 High Carbon Tool Steel that has been saber ground to deliver a plain edge with an excellent combination of durability and cutting performance. 1095 is easy to get extremely sharp and is tough as nails but doesn't offer much in the way of corrosion resistance. Thankfully the knife is finished in a durable Black Powder Coat that enhances resistance corrosion while reducing the reflectivity of the blade and hiding general wear. Jimping along the spine of the blade provides added traction for both power cuts and detail work.

The Handle: The handle of the knife consists of 2 beefy canvas Micarta scales bolted to the full tang construction with black oxide finished Allen bolts. Micarta offer superior traction even when wet exhibiting outstanding durability. The front scale sports a divot for bow drill fire making. The exposed tang at the pommel has a large hole for lanyard attachment, glass breaker point and serial number.
