Puma Rare Model 971 Game Warden 1969 Saw and Blade Folding Lock Knife #96583
This is a 55 year old lightly sharpened but very good condition and rare Puma Plainsman Model 971 with the Standard Blade and Saw Blade Lock Blade folding knife.

Main blade has been sharpened with the saw blade untouched.
Serial No. 96583 Which means it was made in the 3rd Qtr of 1969 and is currently 55 years old
Stamped on one side of the blade:
971 PUMA-PLAINSMAN NEW STAINLESS SUPER KEEN CUTTING STEEL
Condition : Is very good with a lightly sharpened blade with no play in the blades, great bolsters and lovely Jacaranda handle.
Puma made some knives in those earlier years that were marked either Game Warden or Plainsman with the Plainsman being the rarer of the two and this is one where the tolerances are so tight that it needs the lock to be pushed against a hard surface to close the knife. This was common for some of those early knives in the Plainsman/Game Warden range.
The 971 is notorious for being very difficult to close and force is sometimes required to close the blades properly.

We have left this knife in absolute original condition with the Brass unpolished. A bit of Puma Polish and the Brass will be beautiful.
A very rare knife with the Plainsman and Game Warden becoming very popular.
