This is a real beauty and we believe is a reproduction due to its almost mint condition but we cannot be sure as it came from a collection in the USA but has no markings so we are unsure of its origins apart from to say it is a real beauty and an unusual knife.This is a hand made knife with scabbard and we believe is either German or made in Sheffield England and looks like something from the mid 1800's or something you would see in the American Civil War ?

Its almost new condition does however suggest a reproduction of a period knife.

It is 32cm overall so is a big knife and has a double edged very sharp blade.

The blade is approx 20.5cm long and the Coffin Handle is approx 11.5cm

Heavy and well built it has a coffin shaped handle which is made from Black Buffalo Horn and pinned with 3 Brass Pins.

Full tang construction with a silver cross guard and a leather and metal scabbard with hand stitching on reverse.

It is the only one of these knives and design that we have ever seen. It has been well kept with just a few age marks on the sheath and blade and a couple of minor dings in the Buffalo Handle which can be seen in the images.
