Made in 1998 by S.Mackrill Custom Knives in South Africa for Safari Club International in the USA
Beautiful hand made knife which is a special edition 'GIRAFFE BONE & RHODESIAN TEAK' Handle with a small Brass Placque and only 1 available.
This is number 89 of 100 and a rarity in Australia.
The 1998 5th Edition SCI knife is based on the ever popular American Green River Skinning Knife. The knife was used extensively in the mid 1800's by the Mountain Men and Trappers of the great American Plains and will be recognized by anyone interested in knives from this particular era. Mackrill scaled down this particular model in order to make it more parctical in the skinning of Plains game of American Moose, Elk, Mule Deer etc. The blade is made from Bohler N690 hardened to 60RC with Brass fittings. The handle is made from Giraffe Bone and Rhodesian Teak was was part of the Ties of the railway line from Komatiepoort to Lorenzo Marques in Portuguese East Africa. The inlaid Brass plaque was designed to have initials or name engraved on it therefore personalizing the knife further and being hand made, each knife will differ slightly.
Comes in a beautiful custom made Red Baize Lined "Meranti" Wooden Box with original paperwork.
The blade is made from Polished N690 Steel to Rockwell Scale 60 RC
The handle is made from Giraffe Bone and Rhodesian Teak Wood and Brass Pins finish off the beautiful handle. (Please note detailed images with some natural flaws in the handle which are part of the horn/bone/wood)

'Mackrill Custom Knives was established in 1991 by Stephen (Sr.) and Michele Mackrill in Johannesburg, South Africa. Stephen and his son, Stephen Jr. are custom knife makers, artists and perfectionists. Stephen Sr. passed away in 2012. Stephen Jr. continues the work and legacy of his father.'
