Stunning 1996 S.Mackrill Custom Knives (South Africa)

Made in 1996 by S.Mackrill Custom Knives in South Africa for Safari Club International in the USA

Beautiful hand made knife which is a special edition 'LION' Model and only 1 available.

This is number 9 of 25 and a rarity in Australia.

To celebrate SCI's 25 years and the year of the Lion, Mackrill created a limited edition of 25 knives. The presentation knife made especially for this occasion comes in an 'IMBLA' fitted wooden box and includes a piece of Lions Skin in the lid. The handle is in Cape Buffalo Horn and finely polished Hippo Tooth. The brass fittings are hand engraved by Mackrill's engraver 'Tinus Els'. Depicted on the brass bolster is a 3/4 view in relief of a Lions Head with Nimschke schroll work in each corner. (Lious Nimschke was an American engraver of the 19th Century) On the reverse side, hand engraved is a scroll which says "25 Years".

Since each knife is individually crafted, Mackrill has made the handles slightly different in every case in order to emphasize the fact that they are indeed not mass produced. This is very important where the collector is concerned as each one is truly "one of a kind"

Comes in a beautiful custom made Red Baize Lined "Imbuia" Wooden Box with original paperwork and a piece of 'LIONS' Skin.

The blade is made from Polished N690 Steel to Rockwell Scale 60 RC which is file worked on the spine.

The Bolsters are made from solid Brass with one of the bolsters hand engraved with a Lions Head with the other side hand engraved with 25 years.

The handle is made from Cape Buffalo Horn and Hippo Tooth with Red and Brass Spacers and Brass Pins finish off the beautiful handle.
