Every Gerber product has a story to tell. The story of the LMF II is one of resilience and resourcefulness. This MOLLE compatible knife is rugged and versatile, with a partially serrated blade that can also serve as pommel. The sheath includes a built-in blade sharpener. The purpose driven design of this knife stems from the experience of former military man Jeff Freeman, combining thoughtful design features and rescue applications.

Originally designed to free an aircrew from a downed aircraft, the LMF II is tough enough to cut through the fuselage of an aircraft and smart enough to ensure you are safe while doing so. The knife has a purposeful break between the tang and the butt cap, providing insulated protection against stray wires and absorbing any shock from hammering.
This 25cm survival knife was built to adapt to any scenario thrown at it – ensuring comfort, versatility, and safety when you need it most.

Military Influence

In 1967, Gerber decided to market a combat knife to support the military in Vietnam. Based on the sketch from Captain C.A. "Bud" Holzmann, the concept became the Mark II survival knife. The shape and double-edged construction borrowed from the Skyes-Fairbain fighting knife popular with the elite armed forces of World War II. Gerber's Mark II added a distinct pommel and indestructible textured handle. The result quickly became popular with Army Special Forces, Marine Recon, Navy SEALS and Army Rangers.

Materials

The Gerber 70th Anniversary Mark II knife features the classic construction that made the knife famous with a few updates. The distinct wasp shape returns and the material is state of the art, corrosion resistant S30V stainless steel, which we consider to be the finest available. The aluminum handle is die cast and cemented to the handle with an advanced epoxy that ensures an unbreakable bond between the blade and the handle.
