Handle is genuine Deer antler with brass fittings. Comes with a beautifully handmade sheath. Handmade in the USA. This is a unique knife and is very collectable.

The blade is jeweled and hollow ground. This thickness makes for a much more serviceable edge. The steel is a high-carbon blue tempered 1085 spring steel. The high carbon allows for edge-holding ability at a low temper and makes sharpening easy with a stone, steel or ceramic stick.

Handle is made from genuine White Tail, Mule or Elk Deer Antler

The sheath is handmade and is a pouch style sheath made from 11 oz. Herman Oak leather, then tooled and laced by hand with heavy latigo lacing. The leather is tanned with salt-free solutions to avoid rusting of the blade.

Ken Richardson had been making knives since 1972 and was widely known for his high quality knives. The company and legacy have since been taken over by the son Jake Richardson and remains a family owned business that takes pride in its products and this knife and sheath are made by hand without any use of aids or jigs and each is unique and has its own character.

The knife is individually numbered on the brass fitting.

Excellent for display, a talking piece or as a practical hunting knife, or Western action and re-enactment knife.

Unique and collectable. Handmade in the USA.

*Please note these knives are all hand made and by that very nature, stag antler handles will always vary in shape, colour, texture and in size and may have minor natural imperfections in both the handle and manufacturing marks on the blade.

About Ken Richardson (From Ken)

I began making knives from old cross cut saws in my spare time from my horseshoeing business around 1990.

In 1975 we moved to Dillard, Mo and setup a forge shop on my friends’ quarter horse ranch to take care of his horses and were others could bring horses to get them shoed.

Still making knives in spare time we lived with our 7 kids in sight of the Dillard Mill where I fashioned a small shop and began making knives which became more and more of a full time job.

We soon had to have a ready supply of steel and settled on 1085 spring steel the closest in metallurgy to the old saws. We then found a ready supply of shed deer rocky mountain elk horn.

A couple of years later Bass Pro Shop and Cabela’s started selling our knives and the whole family had to go to work making knives.

Our kids all grew up on the Huzzah Creek where they spent the summers fishing and swimming; in the fall we would hunt deer and trap fur in the winter.

Very soon our friends who were also hunters and trappers began wanting our knives and each one would have their idea of what a perfect knife would be like. Over the years their ideas and our ideas designed the knives we make and they have changed very little over the years.

As he wanted, we will continue the same quality craftsmanship that he has taught us and continue the tradition that he has started. Ken Richardson Knives and Family
