Puma Knife: Puma Vintage Pre-64 Fishermans Knife in Original Red Box
Puma Fisherman's Knife. Otherwise known as the Waagemesser with a rough translation from German to English of "Weighing Machine"
This is the rarer original model with English Writing on the blade and measurement in Ibs.
This one is a Pre-64 model and is in very good to almost mint condition for age for a 60+ year old knife.
It is in original condition and still holds its factory edge.It closes very crisply with the blade in perfect condition. The knife handle does show a couple of very minor signs of age and a little tarnishing in a few spots.
Stamped on one side of the blade is: PUMA SOLINGEN MADE IN GERMANY and the weight measurements on the blade and on the other side is: STAINLESS PATENT No. 922214
It is in the rarer Red Cardboard Box which shows a few age marks but is in good solid condition.
A lovely example of this classic fishermans (Wagganmesser) knife with heavy Fish Donker on the end.
Puma "fish knife" or more correctly Waage Messer as in Scales Knife as in weighing scales, the big ball on one end is both a counterweight for the scales, and also for whacking a fish to kill said fish.
Also known as a priest as in giving the Game bird or in this case the fish, the last rights and donking it on the head for humane dispatch.
The knife features a 4" polished finish Solingen Stainless Steel blade and is 9 1/2" overall in length. It is 5 3/4" long when closed. The entire knife is made from polished German Stainless Steel.
The front blade is etched with the weight in lbs. It is the purest example of Puma quality straight from the Solingen Germany factory. A great chance to obtain an older Puma Fishermans knife at around 50 years old and excellent condition.
