J. Nowill/J. Adams Ltd is a family business based in Sheffield England which has been making quality knives for six generations; they are the parent company for three other old established manufacturers F.E & J.R.Hopkinson Ltd, established 14 June 1944, John Nowill & Sons Ltd, whose corporate name was granted by the Cutlers Company of Hallamshire on 27 April 1700 A.D. and Austin McGillivray & Co.

This is a 1993 Mint and totally unused British Army issue Knife which is fondly known as the Survival Knife, Jungle Survival Knife, Arctic Survival Knife and all round, Bush Bashing Survival Knife by the Soldiers who use them. Once issued, when soldiers leave the forces, these knives tend to have been damaged, lost or stolen and seldom get handed back in to the Quarter Master such is the fondness for hanging on to this hard wearing tool. This knife was adopted by the British Army for jungle operations some forty years ago. The heavy blade can be used for a variety of purposes, including both small cutting tasks and fairly heavy chopping. The wood handle is affixed by three large copper rivets and is extremely robust. The knife comes in the standard military issue leather sheath.
