Ka-Bar Knives were originally made for the United States Marine Corp ("USMC"), but were not only adopted by the Marines but also the army, navy, coastal guards and underwater demolition teams.
The hard SGF sheath (see below) locks the knife in place and is constructed out of a tough reinforced glass filled nylon which provides a hard surface to protect during rough use. It is resistant to impact, corrosion, and abrasion. The sheath's all-weather performance also makes it impervious to most chemicals, petroleum-based products, and moisture, including salt water.
Together with its several lashing ports and knife lock in, it provides multiple tie-down and mounting options, including upside down in a shoulder area or strapped to a LBV, or BA vest.
